I've always had a soft spot for affordable, high-performance equipment; there's a plethora of choices, and some compromises are to be accepted, but these products are sometimes a real "entrance" to very pleasing high-fidelity.
I was recently offered to represent Primare... original idea, since I did sell Primare in Europe... it's unexpected to get back to the brand after several decades!
Having tested the entry-level i15 PRISMA amplifier-converter, I was immediately seduced...
the expression “iron fist in a velvet glove” has never been so justified; a great smoothness, without the slightest aggressiveness, married to an astonishing “punch”, with deep, controlled bass and unexpected dynamics, even on difficult loudspeakers, a modern but discreet look (the magnificent display gives it a lot of class)... the baby has everything to please... adopted!
I've also ordered the R15 Phono preamp, which I'll talk about when I get the chance.
I then moved on to Home Cinema, with the SPA25.
Having already the NAD T778 on permanent display, which I'm still crazy about, with its unbeatable value for money, I was a little nervous... the Primare costs almost twice as much.
But after a week's running-in, my doubts were dispelled: the Primare really does clearly go much further in terms of musicality... once again that sweetness, those very realistic timbres... and that astonishing punch.
Testers who describe it as an “audiophile” home theatre integrated were not mistaken, and I'm convinced that this gives the SPA25 a unique position.
It too has been unreservedly adopted!
