What "is" the "Mutine experience"?
On top of what you can discover by clicking on the "Mutine?" button, here are a few recent reactions from a magazine, a reviewer, customers...
- MUTINE’S PASCAL RAVACH—NORTH AMERICAN AUDIO’S ZEN ICONOCLAST
(PMA Magazine July 2025)
- MONTREAL audiofest 2025 (Rick Becker of EnjoytheMusic, "mac10" on Canuck).
- Glenn S. system installation in Lafayette, Louisiana:
“I went to see Pascal only to hear the Duevel Sirius BE speakers, but his system sounded so good I bought an entire system. My old reference system, cost over $300,000, plays great music, but you can still tell it’s reproduced music. The Duevel based system from Pascal, much less expensive, plays real music, you feel the artists are in the room with you, or as my friend said, “It’s raining music!”. Thank you Pascal!”

'I finally met Pascal a few months back!
First of all, I had conversed with Pascal in a telephone conversation and via FB messenger at a few points over the summer.
During our phone conversation, Pascal asked me a number of questions about my system. Interestingly, he gave me a lot of advice that wouldn't directly benefit him. He advised me to make two upgrades as soon as I was able.
Step one- upgraded wall outlet: Pascal recommended that the Oyaide R0 would be a very good match for my system. (Again, he has no financial relationship with Oyaide that I know of and just advised me to purchase one wherever available)
I know that power cables and power outlets are very contentious topics among audiophiles, but this has been the most cost effective upgrade I have ever made to my system. Because I had so much success with his "step one" advice, I also took his advice on "step two."
Step two- improved power conditioning: he feels that the Inouye SPLC is an excellent choice in terms of preserving musicality. (I've noticed that this is a huge priority of Pascal's in our conversations) Again, he has no financial relationship with Inouye (he doesn't sell or stock them), he just advised me to keep an eye out for one of the units.
Within a couple of months, I was able to find an Inouye SPLC for a reasonable outlay.
Basically, in our first conversation before I ever met Pascal he suggested I make two changes that significantly improved the sound of my system for a very reasonable outlay- and they worked out even better than my expectations.
Finally, it was September, Pascal was back from his trip to Asia, and I made the drive out to Pascal's place which took about 30 minutes.
He lives in a very beautiful custom home that he is literally building himself.
I would characterize him as a "shokunin", someone who embodies the artisan spirit of relentlessly pursuing perfection through their various crafts.
In English we only have words like "eccentric, extremist, artisan", none of which are sufficient to describe such a person.
Shokunin's can be polarizing, and Pascal is no exception.
I think part of it is because they have usually experimented deeper and longer on details that others overlook, thus their standards are sometimes very high, and their opinions can be very strong.
If you want an easy to explore example, Jiro Ono of "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" comes to mind. His compliments come so rarely that when one of his apprentices makes his 100th tamago and finally receives mild praise, he breaks down and cries.
I love people like this. (Not everybody does, and that's fine).
These are the people who care about EVERY SINGLE DETAIL when it comes to things that are important to them.
The benefits you can reap from listening to advice from such a person are tremendous (as long as you can work with them), and I'd already experienced two examples of this months before I arrived.
Upon arrival, I was welcomed like an old friend, and he made me an excellent coffee on his Breville Double Boiler espresso machine, Baratza Vario grinder, using some really nice Kenya AA beans that he recommended to me (and I subsequently purchased). I mention this information at the risk of sounding like a coffee snob, but I noticed immediately how thoughtful and intentional Pascal is about everything he cares about. He clearly "goes deep" researching before making decisions.
In short, if he offers you a coffee...accept!
We proceeded to one of the listening rooms.
In that room he had a very inexpensive system (we're talking $3000 INCLUDING speakers!) set up that was playing through Duevel Planets that sounded absolutely fantastic. I was REALLY impressed by this setup and have since recommended it to a number of non-audiophile friends who want a good system but don't know a damn thing about hi-fi.
Next we progressed to the larger listening room which featured Audiomat components and larger Duevel's.
The listening session was relaxed and extended over a couple of hours. It was a real pleasure, and the system sounded really tremendous- it sounded like music. It was a listening session where we ended up talking about the music, not the equipment, if you know what I mean?
We went for a leisurely lunch afterward at a really good local café, which was a lot of fun also.
(...)
I also wanted to share my first experience with visiting Pascal / Mutine.
The trip was more like hanging out with an audio friend, and didn't feel "transactional" in the way many other visits to audio dealers have in the past.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and I highly recommend an in-person visit with Pascal if it's something you're able to arrange.
My system has benefited greatly from his advice."
